ACL Bridge Program

Our bridge program is designed to help athletes of all ages and abilities transition from formal physical therapy to a safe return to sport return to sports and recreational activities after an ACL injury.

What is a “Bridge Program”?

An ACL Bridge Program is a higher-level return to sports program in months 3-12 post-operatively. Bridge programs include plyometrics, weight training, jump, quad, and hamstring torque testing. Our ACL Bridge Team has received extensive in-house education on current best practices with the ACL population.

What to Expect

Assessment metrics
We’ll evaluate the athlete’s current level of physical function including range of motion, quad and hamstring strength testing using Tindeq, and jumping and landing mechanics.

Goal Setting
Goals may include managing edema, full range of motion, LSI score, and ACL-RSI scores.

Program Layout

Strength
Varied exercises will be tailored to each patient to improve power, stability, and performance.

Plyometrics
Using ground contact time values, the therapists will progress jumping/hopping volume and intensity from simple double-leg exercises to more complex single-leg movements, including dynamic cutting drills to simulate return to play.

Therapists

My physical therapist took the time to listen to my story and my issues, listen to me cry, and offer real solutions and goals. Everyone is so personable, they have real conversations with you, and treat you more like a friend than a patient. I will never go anywhere else or trust anyone else with my physical therapy needs.
