DPT – Doctor of Physical Therapy
Adam Smith is a licensed physical therapist at our Grand Rapids City clinic. Adam graduated from Hope College in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University in 2024. As a physical therapist, Adam treats under the philosophy of movement optimism—a science-based approach to pain, injury, and rehabilitation that focuses on the human body’s ability to adapt and be resilient.
Adam is dedicated to guiding each person he works alongside through their individualized rehabilitation path, working to help answer uncertainties and understand their personal goals of care. Adam enjoys working with people who experience chronic pain and those who wish to return to the activities they love as soon as possible. Additionally, with personal experience across most sports, Adam understands the physical and mental demands of these activities and works to help athletes of all ages meet them. He brings a light-hearted and approachable personality to his practice, making the rehabilitation journey as enjoyable as it is effective.
Adam currently resides in Grandville, MI, and enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Maria, and friends in the area. In his free time, Adam enjoys soccer, pickleball, snowboarding, golf, and photography.

Our therapist was fantastic in treating my son over these last few weeks! He took the time to work with him and made sure I had the knowledge to continue his work at home. Great experience!
