The McKenzie Method is also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. It is a treatment approach that involves education and active patient involvement. It is a trusted approach used by practitioners and patients worldwide to successfully manage and treat back, neck, and extremity problems.
On your first visit, your therapist will perform a thorough history and movement testing in order to identify distinct patterns of your pain. The most common response is a centralization of your symptoms which is a well-documented tool to determine the nature and prognosis of your particular injury. Your therapist will determine if your symptoms have a Directional Preference that will centralize or abolish your pain. On the first visit, your therapist will be able to determine whether or not mechanical therapy is for you. If you are appropriate for mechanical therapy, you will be provided with pain-relieving exercises on day one. The Mckenzie Method’s goals are to reduce pain and deformity; maintain the reduction with education and posture advice; restore full function and prevent recurrences.
My experience at Hulst Jepsen was very positive. My appointments all started on time and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and personable.
