In a normal lymphatic system, our lymphatic vessels carry waste fluid through the lymph nodes and back into the heart. Lymphedema can occur when your lymphatic vessels are not effectively moving this fluid and it accumulates, causing chronic swelling. Lymphedema can be caused by the damage, removal, or malformation of the lymph nodes or vessels.
Chronic Venous Insufficiency is swelling that occurs when the valves in your veins fail or leak, causing leg pain, swelling, and spider and varicose veins.
