Marissa Wheeler

Physical Therapist, PT, DPT

Marissa is a licensed physical therapist who has had the privilege of practicing over the past 10 plus years. She began her journey attaining her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Cornerstone University in 2003. After working as an exercise technician for 3 years, she went back to school at Grand Valley State University for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.

Since then, Marissa has primarily treated in the outpatient and home care settings. With a passion to continually learn and grow as a therapist, she has taken over 20 continuing educational courses which have helped develop her collaborative, whole person treatment approach.  Marissa specializes in women’s health and is level 2 certified through the APTA. She has experience treating women with pelvic pain, urinary urgency and frequency, stress urinary incontinence, chronic constipation, coccyx dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum related issues.  She has also treated a large spectrum of orthopedic diagnoses over the years and continues to enjoy the variety.

When not practicing PT, Marissa loves to spend time with her husband, two children and pets.  She enjoys playing games, being active in her church, volunteering at her children’s school and finding the enjoyment of life in the little things.

I could not be more pleased with how I was treated from start to end at the Rockford branch. Curt is great at giving you time with him, asking the right questions and, just as importantly, explaining the reasons for my treatment regimen to me. I would return to get treatment from him in a heartbeat. Yvette is the best and makes you feel important all the time.  Finally, the “student” staff are a great addition to the overall treatment too, fun to be around and already dedicated.
