DPT – Doctorate of Physical Therapy

Marissa is a licensed physical therapist at our Pelvic Rehabilitation Center in Hudsonville. She has had the privilege of practicing physical therapy for 10+ years. She began her journey attaining her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Cornerstone University in 2003. After working as an exercise technician for 3 years, she went back to school at Grand Valley State University for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.

Since then, Marissa has primarily treated patients in outpatient and home care settings. With a passion to continually learn and grow as a therapist, she has taken many continuing education courses which have helped develop her collaborative, whole-person treatment approach. Marissa specializes in women’s health and is level 2 certified through the APTA. She has experience treating women with pelvic pain, urinary urgency and frequency, stress urinary incontinence, interstitial cystitis, chronic constipation, coccyx dysfunction, pregnancy, and postpartum-related issues. She has also treated a large spectrum of orthopedic diagnoses over the years and continues to enjoy the variety.

When not practicing PT, Marissa loves to spend time with her husband, two children, and pets. She enjoys playing games, being active in her church, volunteering at her children’s school, and finding the enjoyment of life in the little things.

I very much appreciate their quality of care and also, equally important, their welcoming environment. I also appreciate learning and having a conversation regarding my care and my treatment plan. I would say this is the most receptive and caring group of providers I’ve found in this field and that I truly enjoy going to PT.
