Our Therapists
Thomas Hulst, M.H.S., P.T., O.C.S.
Tom is a co-owner of Hulst Jepsen Physical Therapy and works primarily in the Kentwood clinic. He has been a licensed physical therapist for 19 years. Tom graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in physical therapy in 1989 and then received his advanced Master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Indianapolis in 1994. Tom became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist in 1995.
Tom’s excellent clinical skills were recognized by his peers when he was voted Physical Therapist of the Year by the Western District of the MI Physical Therapy Association in 1996. Tom’s commitment to clinical excellence is also reflected in the 40+ continuing education courses he has taken on a variety of topics, but all focused on manual therapy. Tom enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic, spinal and sports injuries along with post surgical conditions from pediatrics to geriatrics. Tom enjoys playing golf and basketball as well as coaching his daughters’ soccer team.
Joel Kits, D.P.T.
Joel Kits is a physical therapist at our Kentwood location. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2008 where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He is excited about starting his career in outpatient orthopedics with a focus on manual therapy. Joel has a passion for working with people with sports injuries.
As part of his academic training, Joel’s research involving overuse injuries will be published in the peer reviewed journal, Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In his spare time, Joel enjoys playing golf, biking and camping with his family.
Glenda VanBeek, P.T.A.
Glenda is a Physical Therapist Assistant working at the Kentwood clinic. She received her associate degree in PT many years ago from Kellogg Community College, graduating in 1983.
Glenda started her career in acute inpatient care with emphasis on orthopedics, in short term and long term rehab at a nursing home, and home care. Over the last 15 years, she has enjoyed working in outpatient settings with main emphasis in orthopaedic related diagnoses developing continued skills in manual therapy.
Glenda enjoys gardening, walking, spending time with family & friends, and working with her church’s high school youth group.
